Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.

“From the top of the dome the Hill Country opens in long shallow waves of live oak and cedar, the Llano River a silver crease to the north. A vernal pool sits in a granite hollow a few yards from the summit cairn, holding rainwater and the small ferns that come and go with it. Wind moves across the cap without interruption. Fredericksburg is out of sight to the south.

The summit of Enchanted Rock sits at 1,825 feet above sea level, about 425 feet above the parking area below. From the cap the view runs across the eastern Llano Uplift toward the Llano River, the smaller granite outcrops of Little Rock and Turkey Peak, and the live-oak savanna of the central Hill Country. The state natural area covers 1,644 acres in Gillespie and Llano counties, managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife since 1978.
The dome sits high enough to catch a steady south wind through most of the year, and the bare granite radiates heat differently from the wooded country around it. Visibility from the cap commonly runs twenty to thirty miles on a clear winter day. In summer, surface temperatures on the rock can pass 130°F by midday; in winter the summit holds the morning cold long after the lowland below has thawed.
The Summit Trail climbs roughly 425 feet over six-tenths of a mile of bare granite. There is no shade and no water on the dome, and the slope is steep enough that TPWD warns against descending in wet conditions. Daily entry is capped at the gate, and most experienced visitors aim for first light or the last hour before sunset to avoid the worst of the heat and the parking queue at the trailhead.
