Not a print, not a poster. The artwork is slowly infused into the surface of a glossy ceramic tile with heat, pressure, time, and care, until the colour lives inside the surface rather than on top of it. Vibrant, saturated, and lit from within. It cannot fade or peel. Weighty and permanent: a piece you hand down.
Wender Studios is our family, in Knoxville, Tennessee, an hour from the Smokies. I find the places and shape how each one is seen; we finish every tile by hand before it leaves the studio. The atlas grows because we are relentless about looking; the quality holds because nothing ships that one of us has not held.
